Jonathan Gonzales

Internship at The Public Defender’s Office

While attending Lincoln Law School at night Mr. Gonzales worked as an intern at the Placer County Public Defender’s office where he wrote and argued a variety of motions, including the right to a speedy trial and illegal search and seizure motions where the cases were ultimately dismissed. There, he was able to work as a certified law student and was lead counsel in four jury trials against experienced prosecutors and received both not guilty verdicts and hung juries.

After taking and passing the bar exam on the first attempt, he received his license to practice law and he was immediately hired by the public defender’s office. Here he was quickly promoted to the DUI unit and handled both misdemeanor and felony DUI’s. There he obtained invaluable jury trial experience where most cases ended with successful results. In the first year at the public defender’s office as an attorney, he received an award for first runner-up for the most overall dismissals, good trial verdicts, and misdemeanor pleas in felony cases.

Former Police Officer and More

Along with his former police background and training, attorney Gonzales attended the Drug and Alcohol Recognition training (the same class police officers attended) and is able to use that to the benefit of his clients that are accused of DUI and being under the influence. Attorney Gonzales regularly attends seminars and training on how to defend DUIs and stays up to date with current Pharmacokinetics (the study of alcohol absorption and elimination).

Prior to starting The Gonzales Law Office in 2016, Mr. Gonzales was partners in a local firm that handled both criminal defense and civil litigation. There, Mr. Gonzales headed the criminal division of that firm and took part in the civil practice aspects as well. Mr. Gonzales is well diverse in both areas of litigation.
